Kick off the Danish String Quartet’s two-day mini-festival Tunes & Trads with a double-billing of Stundom and Danish String Quartet. Inspired by the traditional dance music from their ancestors, the Stundom trio invites you into their wondrous immersive world and mixes folk traditions with classical chamber music and modern symphonic elements. With a blend of the violin, the cittern and the piano, Emma Elmøe, Villads Hoffmann and Julian Svejgaard share a unique musical chemistry and the ability to create capturing melodies.
Renowned for the palpable joy they exude in music-making, the Grammy-nominated Danish String Quartet has become one of today’s most in-demand string quartets, performing to sold-out concerts around the world. The Danish String Quartet’s inventive and intriguing programming and repertoire choices have produced critically acclaimed original projects and commissions as well as popular arrangements of Scandinavian folk music. The Danish String Quartet, Musical America’s 2020 Ensemble of the Year, comes to Strings to celebrate the ten-year anniversary of their folk album, Wood Works, as part of their immersive Tunes & Trads Festival.
