A multimedia event of distinctly American music and photographs.
This unique program will feature music composed by Americans that paints portraits in sound. Photographs from the vast collections of the Library of Congress, graciously curated by photographer laureate Carol M. Highsmith, will illuminate the music. The music has been selected by conductor Schissel, senior musicologist for over 35 years in the music division of the Library of Congress. The evening will feature works by Aaron Copland, Ferde Grofé, special arrangements from the personal library of Morton Gould and Carmen Dragon, and a host of unique and exciting works by distinguished American artists. *Special Concert Format*This concert celebrates Strings’ 35th Anniversary with a paired food and dessert tasting.
