Vijay Gupta leads a trio of violin, cello, and piano, while dancer Yamini Kalluri performs.
Reena Esmail, composer-in-residence with the Los Angeles Master Chorale and Seattle Symphony, writes music at the intersection of East Indian and Western Classical traditions. Her piano trio “Saans” and poignant meditation “When the Violin” share this program with works by Mendelssohn and Bach, which take on fresh and multi-layered meaning in the company of Reena’s work. This is an evening for transcendence and stirring reflection.
