Shovels & Rope, a Charleston two-piece band comprised
of Michael Trent and Cary Ann Hearst, mixes folk, rock,
and country to create soulful and dynamic tunes. The
Americana Music Association has twice nominated them
for Duo/Group of the Year and awarded Song of the Year
to “Birmingham” from the 2012 album O’ Be Joyful.
Creating a huge sound that defies what listeners may
believe is possible for two musicians, Shovels & Rope
