Hawaiian-born ukulele master has virtually reinvented the four-string instrument
Many call him “the Jimi Hendrix of the ukulele.” His albums have topped Billboard World Music Charts. He has headlined the Hollywood Bowl, Lincoln Center, and Sydney Opera House. He performed for Queen Elizabeth II. He is a frequent performer on shows like The Today Show, Good Morning America, Late Night with Conan O’Brien, and Jimmy Kimmel Live!
“I just wanted to play the ukulele my way, which turns out to be very different from what everybody else has done,” says Jake, who started playing the instrument at the age of four and learned the basics from his mother, Carol.
