Young Artists in Residence

Each year, Strings hosts two young artist groups for 10-18 days during our summer festival season. Young artists are the face of Strings Music Festival to the community, and are an integral part of our relationship to the people of Steamboat Springs. Opportunities include:

  • Performances in venues like Strings Music Pavilion, local brewing companies, the Bud Werner Memorial Library, Yampa River Botanic Park, and more
  • Mentorship from Music Director Michael Sachs
  • Experience performing for children, seniors, sensory-friendly, and adult audiences
  • Accommodations and lunch each day
  • Access to high caliber musicians performing in the 2017 Strings Festival Orchestra
  • Training in concert commentary

Strings Music Festival works to  make sure that each residency is educational, broadens the scopes of the artists’ talents, and introduces them to mountain living. Young artists are paid and given lodgings during their stay, and are asked to volunteer a couple of hours for Strings once during their stay.
