An Evening with Lyle Lovett and Robert Earl Keen

Tuesday, February 20, 7 p.m.

Strings Music Festival is pleased to continue its winter programming by presenting an evening with Lyle Lovett and Robert Earl Keen on These legendary singers and songwriters will bring country, blues, and Americana to the stage, along with stories from their decades-long friendship.

Lovett and Keen met while attending Texas A&M University. “The Front Porch Song,” which they co-wrote and each released on their debut albums, captures the essence of the early days of friendship when they’d meet for front-porch picking parties. While Lovett released his self-titled debut with an established label, Keen took the road less traveled, self-financing and producing 1984’s No Kinda Dancer. Despite their varied journeys, Lovett and Keen have remained friends and create a dynamic amiability on stage that few other musicians share. They’ll tell stories from their past as they perform the award-winning music for which they’re both renowned.
